A Garden that Dreamed of Being Worn for MEOW MAG
Fruits and vegetables have always seemed magical to me in their very essence, because of their constant transformation, despite being everyday elements in our lives. They also carry an ancient symbolic weight, with Eve and the forbidden fruit, and in how, historically, female bodies have been seen as destined for desire, to be consumed. For these photos, the central thought was the opposite of “don’t play with your food.” Like a journey in the style of Alice in Wonderland, I explored, through play, the possibilities of their shapes and colors—from shots with ephemeral, edible styling to the direct intervention of the images in the form of collages with fruits and vegetables. As if it were a botanical dream: the natural and the ordinary turning fantastic, and the edible becoming ornament.
